lilac breasted roller drawing
Lilac Breasted Rollers
I found these birds while researching the rhinoceros, as they live in the same areas of Africa. They are named for their lilac-colored breast feathers and the rolling action the do during flight while trying to impress a potential mate. Drawn in colored pencil with a little retouching of the background in Photoshop.

cat drawing What's new?
I finally got a good drawing of one of my cats. I took a great photo of her waiting for dinner that I used as reference. Of course, she doesn't count as wildlife, so I put it under sketchbook for now.

Here is another big cat drawing, this time a cougar (puma, mountain lion, panther, catamount, whatever you wish to call it).

I have started my most ambitious project. I will keep regular posts on my progress on my blog.

I drew a black rhinoceros from reference photos. He was my first fur-less mammal.

The green sea turtle was my first reptile. My sister took the photograph the drawing is based on on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.
