Service for Low Income Seniors

Provision has been made through community donations to provide transportation and home delivered meals, without charge, to Seniors who are in financial need. Seniors are routinely referred for low income assistance including housing assistance, SSI, food stamps, Medicare, Medicaid, and Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries. Seniors in need of financial assistance with rent or utilities are referred to the H.E.L.P. Agency in Espanola.

Independent Living Support Services

To help Seniors live independently, daily telephone reassurance calls, chore service referrals and employment referrals are offered in addition to the transportation and meals. Requests for emergency and medical transportation are referred to HELP, a volunteer transportation service provided by the Lions Club. Through HIBAC, Seniors can receive assistance with Medicare problems. During Income Tax season, AARP volunteers help Seniors with simple tax forms.
