The Los Alamos Cooperative Extension Service and the Heart Council are offering a 2-week cooking class, Heart-Healthy Eating: Cooking and Living, designed to teach the necessary skills for a heart-healthy lifestyle. The Los Alamos Heart Council (LAHC), a United Way Agency, was formed in August of 1984 to promote heart-health and wellness in our communities of Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico. Our mission is to develop, implement and support community-wide programs in Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico focusing on the prevention of heart disease by encouraging heart-healthy lifestyles through wellness awareness, health/fitness/nutrition education and community partnerships. Los Alamos Heart Council's programs include:
The Los Alamos Heart Council receives funds as a member of the United Way and also accepts contributions and memorials. The volunteer Board of Director members meet monthly on the first Wednesday evening of every month. If you are interested in serving on the Board, please call 661-9101. |
