For the River:
- Those with asthma/allergies be sure to bring your inhaler on the river! - Boat and boating equipment: including the 7 essentials… Most of those going on the trip have their own equipment. Those that wish to borrow equipment need to make arrangements ahead of time. · helmet, · lifejacket, (Type III; no horsecollars) · paddle, · sprayskirt, · paddle jacket (windbreaker); rain paints/paddle pants are optional · thermal clothing- for on-the-river, that is NOT cotton (wool, silk, polypro or other acrylic fibers are good, since they will retain warmth even when wet); be sure this fits properly, since excess bulk can get in the way of paddling or swimming if they flip. If it is warm day they may not need it at all. But if they flip or if the weather turns stormy or cloudy, they may need it. We will bring some extra gear · Water shoes, swim booties (old, soft sneakers, or sandals...if you are to be in a kayak they must not be too stiff or they won't fit in the narrow front of the kayak; if you are in a canoe, they must be comfortable in a kneeling position with your toes pointed behind you). · noseplugs (optional) - Drybags – kayakers should try to get their clothes and sleeping bag in their boats, if possible. The raft has limited space for this size group. - bathing suit - hat or visor (can be worn under helmet) - sunglasses (optional) - water bottle (put name on it!); needs to be STURDY plastic - sunscreen - lip balm with sunscreen protection - SNACKS, optional (snack bars, gorp, trail mix, etc.)in a ziplock, with name...something high energy that is NOT just sugar, and is able withstand packing without being pulverized) CAMPING - MEDICATIONS (must be carried by adult leaders or family member) - Tent - Sleeping Bag (40 deg) - Sleeping Pad Toilet articles - 1 set camp clothes/jacket or sweater - Eating utensils For after the river: - Dry change of clothes, with the option of shorts and t-shirt, or warmer clothing like sweats in case it is cold when we get off the river or for after the sun goes down. - Shoes or sandals so feet dry out. **to be packed separately and put in the cars driven to the take-out or in your own boat, so you can quickly and easily find them at the take-out.**
