We need more troops to participate in this fund-raising and service opportunity!
Upcoming dates are: Sept. 15 and Sept. 22.
Here are some comments from Jim Cobble:
In August, Troops 129 and 222 assembled 603 recycle pushcarts and billed the county for $745. It's good money, but it's hard work. All units in the county (district) should take advantage of this opportunity. Unit leaders need to have their scout workers and at least two adults on site at the LA County landfill at 8 AM each Saturday. The county provides lunch for the workers. Scouts need broad-brimmed hats and sun screen. A water bottle is recommended. While the county provides tools, each unit can help itself by bringing a hammer and a 1/4-inch drill (battery or AC) for every ~3 workers. The county provides the TorX bits.
Unit leaders should bring the Excel spreadsheet to turn in to LA county representative Leroy Chacon after the work is done. It will be used to determine the donation to each troop. (Keep track of your hours.)
Unit leaders please call Jim Cobble, 667-8290, to schedule which session your unit would like to coordinate.
