Youth Protection Training

You must go through the Boy Scout National website for training.

The following additional information is from Ken Thomas and his experience getting credit for this course:

The first screen asks for information about you.
- If you are a registered leader in BSA, please enter your member number; this provides the greatest likelihood that the training will be recorded.
- If you enter an email address, you should receive an email with a certificate of completion.

At the end of the training, you may take a test to receive credit for the training. Complete the test by answering all the questions. If you are successful, you should end up at a screen that asks you to select a letter from the Scout Executive, and the reporting requirements (neither of which came up when I clicked them). At the bottom of this screen you should see the words "click here" for credit. Click on those words to proceed with getting credit.

You should see a screen that displays a "Trained" card containing your name, Council, date of training, and the name of the course. PRINT THIS SCREEN! and save the printout. In addition, in the next day or so you should receive via email a completion certificate - save that, too.

If there was an exact match to your registration information in the BSA database, the record should be updated to reflect this training.

If you would like to receive a card from the Council office, please call them. A card is NOT automatically issued.

In the past, Camp Rand has not required presentation of a "Trained" card for YPT. However other camps, particularly the national bases, have required evidence of YPT training. Be sure to contact the camp to determine their requirements for evidence of Youth Protection training.

If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Elson.
